Gay sex games visual novels

Gay visual novels are a genre of games that feature static backgrounds and dialogue. The player interacts by choosing a response to each dialogue prompt. The first queer visual novel was Caper in the Castro, a AIDS awareness game by CM Ralph. It was distributed as ‘charityware’ and required players to donate money.

Monster Prom

First released in 2018, Monster Prom is a sprawling franchise as far as gay sex visual novels go, with one sequel already out and another due so soon it might be out by the time you read this. It’s not for everyone, what with its stereotypical depictions of both high schoolers and monsters, and its fourth-wall breaking humor that pokes fun at everything from d**kpics to dating apps to fad diets and drugs (though in the console version, they swap out drug names for more palatable ones like jazz cabbage or nose candy).

The game takes place in Spooky High, a school that caters to kids who are both monsters and humans. The player chooses between four different characters, each with its own gender and sexual orientation (they can switch between he/she/they throughout the game). They then spend three weeks romancing a classmate in order to try and get that person to go to Monster Prom with them. They can increase their bond with their date by completing gay scenarios that require them to talk about things they find interesting, take food pics for Instagram and so on.

It’s hard not to fall in love with the character selection and art in Monster Prom, especially given the way the visual novel gay porn game doesn’t take itself too seriously. Cory O’Brien, Maggie Herskowitz and Julian Quijano have crafted a story that can be played with either its he/she/they pronoun system or its non-binary transgender characterization, while Arthur Tien’s beautiful, hyper-horny art is the icing on the cake.

Coming Out On Top

One of the first gay games visual novels to ever be successfully Kickstarted, Coming Out On Top has proven gaming isn’t a hetero-centric community. However, it isn’t without its flaws. The game is adult and features nudity and sexual content. Those who are against male-on-male sex in games should avoid this one.

The story follows college senior Mark Matthews (a custom name can be entered) as he makes his way through his last academic year and tries to juggle friendships, relationships and dating. The player can romance six love interests in the main story and hook up with a further twelve characters through the Brofinder app.

While some of the scenes are erotic, they’re not gratuitous and the story does try to depict homosexual men in a realistic, but idealised manner. Homophobia does appear in the narrative but it’s extremely comical and doesn’t pose any real danger to anyone.

The biggest problem with COOT is that it can become very wordy and the use of second person takes away from the gameplay, especially when the text isn’t needed. Also, the graphics can be somewhat dated, especially when compared to modern games. While these are only minor issues, they take away from the experience. The price, at around PS13, is also quite steep. But overall, this is a good visual novel XXX gay game with a solid story and an excellent choice for people looking to explore the LGBT scene.

Dream Daddy

This week marks the start of Steam Visual Novel Fest, a celebration of some of gaming’s most underrated narrative experiences. Indie titles like Butterfly Soup, which follows two Asian-American girls as they bond over baseball and fall in love; One Night, Hot Springs, which chronicles a Japanese transgender woman’s experience at a public bathhouse; and Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator, where players customize a single father who tries to romance a colorful cast of other dads living in his neighborhood, tell heartfelt, authentic stories.

The genre also gives developers the opportunity to focus on specific LGBTQ identities, which they can use to humanize characters that may otherwise be sidelined by their role or the game’s writing. That’s something that’s especially valuable when it comes to visual novel queer games, as it allows developers to tell messy LGBTQIA+ stories that can highlight the ways that people’s identities can sometimes get in the way of their relationships.

The burgeoning popularity of gay porn game with visual novels shows that the genre is a powerful tool for telling gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender stories, even as mainstream video games continue to struggle with how to represent these identities. As the genre becomes more and more popular, it’s essential that it remains a safe space for queer game developers to explore their own stories, both as an expression of themselves and as a vehicle to help other gay gamers see the world through their eyes.

Your Royal Gayness

Your Royal Gayness is a story-driven visual novel gay game with LGBT themes. It’s a kingdom management sim and the first release from indie Finnish game studio Lizard Hazard Games. Your parents are gone for sixty days and you’re in charge of wrangling your citizens into a unified kingdom. You must solve problems while keeping loyalty, resources, and army stats in a positive balance. If one of them gets too low your parents will come home early – game over!

Managing a kingdom is no easy feat in Your Royal Gayness. Cats are overrunning the city, a wolf is munching on grandmothers in the forest, and princesses are showing up at your door hungry for marriage. The visual novel gay porn game’s tongue-in-cheek parody of fairy tales isn’t meant to be taken seriously, but the challenges are real and serious.

The gay game’s characters are diverse, including a genderqueer princess, a badass warrior woman, and a lizard wizard. This diversity isn’t typical of a game of this genre, and it’s a great breath of fresh air to see such an array of women in a gay visual novel adult game. Like Dream Daddy and Fullbright’s Gone Home, Your Royal Gayness tackles issues of representation that are important to the LGBTQIA community. Even though the game is a comedy, it addresses serious topics, such as pushing for legalization of gay marriage, in a way that’s fun and accessible.
